Exchange Server Recommendations

 

When installing servers in a business environment, you should follow our recommendations in Recommended Components for Servers. For Exchange servers in particular, we recommend following the below guidelines for installation of components and creation of exclusions.

Installation

During installation of your Exchange server device:

• Use the AVG recommended policy for servers
• Do not install Web or Mail Shield
• Install Exchange server protection
• Install File Shield

Exclusions

Microsoft has compiled a list of recommended exclusions for Exchange servers. However, when you create exclusions in the policy, do not use variables (such as %localappdata%); instead, use wildcards (such as c:\users\*\appdata\local\*).
