AVG Business Cloud Console Release Notes 2023

This Article Applies to:

  • AVG Business Cloud Console

Avast Business Hub and AVG Business Cloud Console run the same versions and release in the same cycle, usually every two weeks. Changes to the release cycle can be due to availability, planning, company shutdowns, etc.

For services offered inside the Cloud Console such as Patch Management, there is no specific release cycle. However, we attempt to release alongside the console releases (if there are some issues, hotfixes will be released outside of the usual two-week cycle). The same applies to the other backend services like DM, Alerts, etc.

This article provides information on the Cloud Console 2023 releases and is updated throughout the year.

  • A new status "no services" has been introduced for devices without any services installed, replacing the previous use of the "safe" status for this scenario. This status exists under the overall "Unprotected" device status type which now contains devices with no services, and services installing or uninstalling.
  • New “Device added” option in Alerts. This alert informs you when a device is added to the account/site.

With these alerts, users can now access in-depth details about the suspicious activity, including specifics about the potential attacker's device. Configuration for these detections is in the Firewall policy settings, under the "Advanced" tab. By default, devices detected performing Port Scanning or ARP Spoofing will be automatically blocked. Console Version 8.71 (July 11)

Release Summary

This release primarily focuses on bug fixes and minor enhancements to improve the overall stability and user experience. It addresses various issues reported by users and includes several performance optimizations. While no major features have been introduced in this update, the aim is to enhance the existing functionality and ensure a smoother and more reliable experience for all users.

New Features & Enhancements

  • Users can now switch the language when downloading an installer via a share link. A combo menu has been implemented, allowing easy language selection directly on the share download link page.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed bug causing inconsistent time stamps for the same detection entry between the console and exported reports to ensure consistent time stamps across the console and exported reports.
  • There was an issue in the CSV file for the Antivirus threat report. The report contained a wrong name for threat type Network, as it was named URL. Similarly, threat resolution Unresolved was named as None.
  • There was a bug where the context menu on a device displayed actions for services that were installed on the device, instead of showing the services that were activated for the company. With the bug fix implemented in this release, the context menu on a device now correctly displays actions for services that are activated for the company.
  • Previously, clicking on the View threat action in the alert detail redirected users to the Devices page with a filter for the File Access Blocked alert which was the wrong target. The action has been fixed to directly open the device detail page on the threats tab.
  • Previously, the View devices group alert action would open the device detail page instead of directing users to the devices page with the alert filter. Now, the action correctly leads users to the devices page with the alert filter applied.
  • A bug that occasionally prevented the activation of subscriptions using activation codes has been resolved. Users can now successfully activate their subscriptions without any issues, ensuring a smooth activation process.
  • A bug where the Try installation again action was missing from the context menu for devices that encountered installation failures has been fixed. In this release, the Try installation again action will now be correctly displayed in the context menu for devices with failed installations.

June 2023

Console Version 8.70 (June 14)

Release Summary

AVG Business Cloud Console users can now interact only with the features of subscribed services.

Non-licensed services are now hidden to avoid any potential confusion with unlicensed service settings. This improvement reduces the complexity of the console and makes it more intuitive.

Also, to keep administrators informed about service statuses after license expiration, we have introduced a service expiration banner. If some service has an expired license, the banner will be displayed at service-related locations. The banner provides the message: Service expired and unavailable. If not renewed within 30 days, all related settings will be removed. This alert helps ensure administrators are aware of expired services and the consequences of not renewing them.

New Features & Enhancements

  • The list of available languages in the settings will now be automatically translated into the local language, allowing users to easily recognize and select their preferred language.

Resolved Issues

  • In the CSV report, the New installation column was missing, leading to incomplete data. After the fix, the CSV report now includes all the required columns.
  • Fixed an issue where the Reinstall services option was incorrectly available for devices without any installed services. This issue has been resolved, ensuring a more streamlined and logical user experience by removing the option when it is not applicable.
  • Fixed issue where the Sandbox option was available in exclusions for AVG policy, despite Sandbox feature not being available for AVG Antivirus. This inconsistency has been addressed, and the Sandbox option will no longer be displayed as an exclusion option for AVG policy.

Release Summary

This release brings bug fixes and minor improvements.

New Features & Enhancements

  • Added Japanese language support, allowing users to interact with the product in their preferred language.

  • Improved navigation by highlighting the current left menu item, even when in a submenu, for better user orientation.
  • Renamed Password Protection to UI Protection in the Policies / Policy Detail / Settings / Antivirus section to prevent confusion with the separate Antivirus component named Password Protection.
  • In Reports / Device report, the Subscription column has been renamed to Services. This column displays only services which are installed on the device, therefore “Subscription” was misleading.

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed an issue where the Subscription page failed to load under specific circumstances. The page now loads correctly, ensuring users can access their subscription information reliably.
  • Fixed a visibility issue with created Groups in the Devices section. Previously, groups were not visible, and operations on them were not possible. After the fix, groups are now visible, and all actions can be performed accordingly.
