AVG Business Agent Release Notes 2023

 

The Business Agent releases for Avast and AVG brands (including the On-Premise Console agents) run on the same cycle, usually once per month, towards the end of the month.

This article provides information on the AVG Business Agent 2023 releases and is updated throughout the year.

November 2023

Agent Version 23.7 (November 29)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release brings several setup and update process changes, as well as agent service changes.

New Features & Enhancements

• The Business Agent install and uninstall processes and dialogs have been revamped to improve the process.
• The update process has been simplified.
• The AVG Business ClientManager service has been renamed to "AVG Business Agent". The Windows service name "ClientManager" is retained. The application is now also named agentsvc.exe.

Resolved Issues

• There were no customer-facing bugs in this release.

Agent Version 23.6 (November 1)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release brings minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Updated OpenSSL libraries (from 1.x to 3.x).
• Permission changes to enhance security.

Resolved Issues

• Minor bug fixes.

September 2023

Agent Version 23.5 (September 20)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release focuses on minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Minor enhancements.

Resolved Issues

• Cloud Backup failing to update older .NET Framework versions needed for its functionality.
• Other minor fixes.

July 2023

Agent Version 23.4 (July 20)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release focuses on minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Minor enhancements.

Resolved Issues

• .NET Framework 4.8 installation repeatedly executed on server OS.
• Other minor bug fixes.

May 2023

Agent Version 23.3 (May 31)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release focuses on minor improvements.

New Features & Enhancements

• Added support for Japanese language. Alongside the Cloud Console 8.69 release, the new 23.3 Business Agent is required in order to fully support Japanese language.
• Updated Cloud Backup connector to require .NET Framework 4.8. From the 23.3 Business Agent version, Cloud Backup will require .NET Framework 4.8 in order to correctly install. Any new devices that will be added with Cloud Backup must verify first that this version of .NET Framework is installed.

March 2023

Agent Version 23.2 (March 21)

Release Summary

This release brings minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Master Agents are now able to support the download of microupdates. It is now possible in offline On-Premise environments to deliver microupdates, as this was not previously supported (AVG Updates Downloader 1.0.22 is a requirement when working with offline On-Premise environments).

Resolved Issues

• USB Protection blocking VM access to USB.
• Syringe service not branded AVG.
• Agent service not starting on Windows 7/Windows Server 2016.
